Canadian Wildfire Smoke: What Commercial Facility Managers Should Know
Wildfire smoke doesn't stop at the property line. When air quality drops, smoke particulate makes its way into commercial buildings through outdoor air intakes, doors and building envelope gaps — and it settles on surfaces, contents and inside ductwork.
Facility managers should review filtration ratings on air handling units, limit outdoor air intake during peak smoke events, and document indoor conditions. If occupants report odor or irritation after an event, professional cleaning and deodorization of affected surfaces and HVAC components may be needed.
If your facility has been affected, our commercial teams can assess the impact and put a remediation plan in place.
